SmartStrand Carpeting and New Pets

When you get a new furry family member, you’re excited and distracted by all of the “adorable” that is going on in your house. Chances are, you don’t think about your carpet until it’s too late. Honestly, you should consider the value of your home and the state of your current carpet when getting a pet. Replacing the rug just before getting a pet, is actually a great idea!

“Why on earth would someone get a NEW carpet when they get a new pet”?!

Okay, well… it sounds a bit extreme, but think about it, if you opt for a pet stain resistant carpet, you’ll make your life a lot easier. Your pet is bound to have accidents during the potty training process; it’s inevitable. Older carpets collect stain and dirt more than newer ones, and they certainly don’t reject dirt the way SmartStrand carpets do.

People also worry that carpeting exacerbates seasonal allergies or asthma. While some carpets hinder breathing by keeping dust, dander, and other allergens, SmartStrand carpets do not. With a carpet that rejects dirt, dust, and oil, you won’t have to deal with these issues.

These carpets are thick too, even if pet stains could penetrate the carpet, they wouldn’t go through to the padding underneath. With thin or old carpeting, the pet waste could seep through to the padding, making the entire house smell… forever. If you’ve ever seen the show hoarders, you’ll know what we mean.
